![]() ![]() Because of this reason, the Deoband seminary was the first to react strongly to the Saudi government’s action, and the seminary’s current principal Syed Arshad Madani called on Saudi Ambassador to India to demand that the Saudi government correct its decision. However, there is no organizational connection between the two. The Tablighi Jamaat is closely linked to world-renowned Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband scholars. But the rise in Islamophobic atmosphere and terrorism in different societies in recent years are adversely hitting the activities of this group also. This perhaps may be why the governments the world over -including Muslim dynasts who don’t want any change in status quo in their countries and non-Muslim government- have equally accepted the group and never objected to their activities. Their focus is on spiritual matters only. The group also keeps itself away from politics and temporal issues. However, the group focuses more on reading and re-reading the Fazail-e-Aamal, thus weakening the relations of its followers with the Quran, the most excellent revolutionary book of the world. In practice, the Tablighis generally follow Islamic monotheism tenets strictly. Tablighis don’t focus on worldly issues, mainly concerned with spiritual matters However, Indian Islamic scholars, unlike Saudi scholars, have not called the group a heretic. ![]() Many Islamic academicians and intellectuals in India hold a view similar to Saudi Islamic scholars about the “Fazail-e-Aamal”, translated as “Excellent Deeds” in English. They don’t propagate Islam among non-Muslims as an unwritten rule. The movement is primarily involved in the social and religious reformation of Muslims. The Fazail-e-Aamal is considered to be the seminal book of the Tablighi movement. ![]() In the 1990s, a top religious leader of the Saudi establishment described “Tablighi Nisab’(now titled as ‘Fazail-e-Aamal) a book full of contents that do not strictly conform to the test of Islamic monotheism. The sermon called the Tablighi Jamaat a heretic organization, saying that the organization’s belief is “shirk” (idolatry) and “bidat” (adulteration in Islam), powerful words to condemn a Muslim or a Muslim organization.īut it is not the first time that the government of Saudi Arabia has condemned the religious belief of the Tablighi Jamaat. ![]() It also got a sermon delivered from all the mosques on December 10, Friday. The Saudi government was not satisfied only with the tweet in the Arabic and English languages. The allegation against the Tablighi Jamaat has been levelled by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs (MOIA) of the Kingdom through its official Twitter handle.
